Gluconic acid, calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg)

Mode of Action

Gluconic acid is an organic (poly-hydroxy-carboxylic) acid of significant biological importance. Derived from glucose, it is abundant in plants including fruit and wine and is widely used in the food, beverage, construction and pharmaceutical industries. In dairies and breweries it is used to gently clean metals, removing rust and scale deposits and inhibiting corrosion.

Nutrient availability: Gluconic acid forms water soluble complexes (chelates) with di- and trivalent metal ions such as calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and iron (Fe). In the soil, this releases additional calcium (Ca), potassium (K), phosphorous (P) and other nutrients, promotes beneficial soil microbiology and balanced plant growth.

Calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg): displaces sodium from clay colloids so that it can be leached away from the rhizosphere. Magnesium balances the calcium addition.
